This is an alloy steel ball stud - a hollow body about 6 inches long with a turned ball on one end and a 1-1/2-12 UN pin thread with an O-ring groove on the other. The ball is the interesting part: it's turned as a true sphere and held within .001, with a hex socket in its end and a small groove just behind it. We bored it through, turned the ball and the body, single-pointed the thread and cut the grooves. Laser-engraved in house and phosphated through our finishing partner.
